SAE International offers Comprehensive Robotics Training for Mobility Engineers
Whether you’re seeking your first role with EVs and ADAS, or charting a new path in your career, these courses will help you advance as a mobility engineer, with applicable coding skills and tested deployments. In three technology-focused, online courses, you’ll learn:Autonomous Vehicle Architecture
Sensors & Perception
Artificial Intelligence & Navigation
These self-guided and expert-led sessions will introduce you to the most common current technology supporting SAE Level Two automation and above, from the experts who created the standard.
imageCourse 1 | Live Online | C2402Autonomous Vehicle System and Control ArchitectureDevelop an understanding of the fundamentals of ADAS architecture, including mechatronics, kinematics, and the sense-think-act framework in autonomous systems. The course builds a connection for how robotics are used in driver-assist and self-driving vehicles. Assignments and demonstrations will provide the skills necessary to program a mobile robot with basic commands using the Robot Operating System (ROS-2).

Key Technologies: Mechatronics, Kinematics, ROS2 architecture, Gazebo, Sense-think-act framework

Next session begins August 4, 2025.

imageCourse 2 | C2403Sensors and Perception for Autonomous Vehicle DevelopmentTake an in-depth look at the most common sensor data used in autonomous vehicle applications, including basic LIDAR, Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB), and object detection. By reviewing the theory, working through examples, and programming movement of a TurtleBot, you’ll develop a solid, hands-on understanding of the common sensors and the data they provide.

Key Technologies: Sensors, LIDAR, Programming, Lane-keeping, Neural networks, ROS, YOLO v3

Next session begins September 29, 2025.

imageHuzefa Kagalwala
Huzefa is currently working as a Software & Test Engineer for AutonomouStuff, Hexagon A&P. Huzefa has a keen interest in all aspects of mobility. Having dabbled in diesel engine emissions calibration during his time at Mahindra & Mahindra, India, he decided to switch over to making vehicles safer via autonomy during his Masters in Automotive Engineering at Clemson University. Being a simulations engineer, makes him proficient in all aspects of the autonomy stack including perception, localization, planning and control. Having kick started his career via the SAEINDIA BAJA competition, to becoming an instructor for SAE, Huzefa’s association with SAE has been for life!
imageVenkat Krovi
Prof. Venkat N. Krovi (FASME, SM IEEE) is currently the Michelin Endowed SmartState Chair Professor of Vehicle Automation at Clemson University – International Center for Automotive Research. His research focuses on intelligent modulation of distributed physical-power-interactions (motions/forces) between humans with connected and autonomous systems to unlock the “power of the many." Research activities focus on the life-cycle treatment (design, modeling, analysis, control, implementation and verification) of a new generation of systems for realizing Connected-Autonomy synergy with applications in vehicle automation, plant-automation, and defense arenas. He currently serves as the Editor-in-Chief of the ASME Journal of Mechanisms and Robotics and was the Founding EiC of the SAE Journal of Connected and Automated Vehicles. He has also taken significant leadership roles within multiple professional societies (ASME, IEEE) and currently serves on the Executive Committee of the IEEE Robotics and Automation Society.
